Super Mario Bros. Clock - Bob Omb

Travis pointed out to me the other day that my way of nesting (you know, things you are compelled to do when you are pregnant, even if they don't make sense or you shouldn't be doing them) is to craft. Lately I have made couch cushion covers for a friend, made brand new cushions for our living room chair, and yesterday I painted and assembled this clock:
I have been looking at pictures of homemade clocks on Pinterest and after lots of researching and thinking, Travis and I came up with this concept. We love Super Mario Bros. and what better way to tell the time then by counting down on a bomb with a lit fuse? Bob Omb is a classic character, and since he is in the shape of a circle, he made for a perfect clock.

How to make your own clock out of paper and cardboard...

Materials:
-Card Stock
-Acryllic Paint
-Clock Hands and Mechanism
-Cardboard
-Twisty Tie
-Craft Glue
-Super Glue

Tools:
-Scissors
-Screw Driver
-Imagination

Steps:
1. I painted all of his pieces separately on card stock, covered them with Modge Podge, cut them out and glued them to matching cardboard backing with craft glue.
2. I superglued all the pieces together with flexible super glue, and poked a hole through the middle with a screw driver in order to insert the clock hands (which where black, but I painted them red so they would stand out more).
3. After I got the clock part in through the hole (I trimmed the paper sticking up through the hole around the base with a sharp knife, be careful), I glued the plastic of the clock mechanism to the cardboard.
4. Lastly, I super glued a twisty tie on the back so it would have something to hang on. The next morning all the glue was dry and the clock was ready for a battery and to be put up on the wall.

Tada, you can turn any character or item you want into a clock. You don't have to paint it yourself either, you can just as easily print out something and then add some paint, markers, or even use fabric. Just make sure you Modge Podge over every piece so that it will last longer, and when it gets dusty, you can wipe it down with a damp rag.

The Human Heart

There has been way too much going on in my life lately. A lot of you already know that my dad was in the hospital for a heart arrhythmia problem called Sudden Death Syndrome that was caused by his other heart conditions that he needs to be treated for (leaking mitrovalve and enlarged aorta). He is back at home now and has been able to go to work and church. He is probably going to be having heart surgery in March, though they haven't decided whether to do open heart, or arthroscopic yet. Please keep him in your prayers.

With all of this, not being able to be there, and the strained relationship I have been trying to rebuild with another family member, I have literally been broken hearted. But God has really been showing me that when my heart is broken, He is the one I need to go to, and that He wants to take all of these burdens I have been heaping on myself. I have literally never felt this kind of intense emotional pain in my life before, and I have been trying to avoid dealing with it. But God is so good, and He won't let me keep all this poison inside any longer. With that in mind, I wanted to share a couple of verses the Lord has given me about the heart in the last few weeks.

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him."   -Psalm 28:7

"My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
-Psalm 73:26

"I wil give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."   -Ezekiel 36:26

"And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live."
-Deuteronomy 30:6
