paperwork...

We spent all morning filling out a questionnaire for the most recent law firm to take interest in Travis' condition in relation to him having had accutane when he was younger. So far several rejections, but we'll see what happens. We prayed over the envelope... I think this will be the last time we try. God's will be done.

A productive day...

This morning we went to the Torrance Health Center so the girls could start getting on track with their vaccinations. Especially because there is an outbreak of Whooping Cough, and Kati hadn't had any shots yet. The girls both did well, and of course both have a fever right now... they are sleeping (a late nap). Ksena got the dreaded MMR and both Hep vaccines.

Then we headed over to Hollywood to look at a 2000 Taylor 314ce that someone posted on craiglist yesterday. It was immaculate, and we bought it. We sold Trav's drumset on Friday, so we had the $$. I brought it home and put new Elixir strings on that I got for free with a gift card promotion that Guitar Center sent out.

Then I posted 11 more disney pins from the Disney Soda Fountain on ebay and figured that in order to get a return on our investment, we need $220 more, and the rest will be profit. Hopefully the prices will start picking up as people are selling out of them. That is what usually happens... we'll see.

Last night we went to Missions Prayer at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa where we ran into the infamous Kurt Kula, who was out of Yo' Mamma jokes for the moment, but don't worry, he'll be back in the game next time we see him :) It was really cool and we met some people interested in going to Hungary for the Missions Training Program.

So far we haven't really added anyone to our support list, but I keep having dreams that we are sharing our vision with different people about starting a Calvary Chapel in Greece. I know God is going to do it, but I don't know how. We don't know how to start meeting people that will share our vision. More prayer is needed for sure!!

Sasha and Travis both LOVED their "Late Night Warrior" shirts featuring none other than Conan O'Brien that I found on Threadless. Score another one for online shopping.

In my devotions I'm reading through 1 and 2 Thessalonians... pure awesome. And so relevant to my life right now (even though the Bible is always relevant to my life). God is good. I can't wait to see what He will do next.

Pictures of my new baby (my guitar of course) to come soon. Any submissions for a name for her? The previous owner assured me it was a her.

What I did today!!

So today was the first time I did the following:

My dad found a bee comb in his boat (we knew it was there... but it was just hanging on one part, so he broke it off) and I used a knife to cut off the part containing future bees, and squished the honey into a baby food jar. It almost filled the whole thing up! They honey is really good too! My mom was asking us how her flowers taste because she keeps lots of flowers in the front and back yard. So, eventually my dad is going to have to get someone to come deal with the bees, but for now, we are going to enjoy their hard work in our tea. Yum!!

How I met my "The One"

When facebook first started, not every school was included on the list, so there was another website called "college facebook" that was open to Long Beach State students, so I signed up. After I filled out my profile I clicked on one of the bands because it was hyperlinked, the Orange County Supertones... when I clicked on it, all of the people who had that band in their profile popped up and the first one that came up had a picture of Bob the Tomato from Veggie Tales on it. Out of curiosity I clicked on it and up came a profile for a guy that went to my college, went to a Calvary Chapel, drummed, and enjoyed the O. C. Supertones. I told my friend, Sar, that I found a guy version of me on college facebook, and she dared me to message him. My message to him looked something like this, "Hi, I love God, shiny things, and drumming too... and thus I had to message you." After two months of messaging back and forth he finally sent me his phone number, unknowingly on my birthday, and we met two weeks later during a homeless ministry he was involved in. I took Sar with me because I wanted to make sure he wasn't some online crazy person or something, and when we got there I was so nervous I started having a panic attack in the car. Sar calmed me down by telling me, "Well it's not like you're going to marry this guy, so get out of the car!" Hahaha! 9 months later we were married. One of my favorite things about dating Travis was going to the same college as him because he walked me to class, which is really old school, and I really think it's so romantic. I love my husband so much! I can't imagine being married to anyone else. Plus we make pretty cute kids ;)

Meeting tonight...

We have been working really hard the last few days to get everything ready to speak at the Mission Potluck. The more we are researching, and getting statistics, and looking at different ministries there... my heart is breaking more and more by the minute!

Please pray for us, that things would go well tonight. That people would see that behind our charts and photographs, that there are over 10 million people who do not understand that Jesus Christ died so they would be free from earning their own salvation, and that there are over 10 million people who God is mourning over every day!! And no one is going to tell them!

Happy Father's Day

Here is a shout out to all of the wonderful men in my life. My husband and best friend, Travis, an amazing father to our two girls... my dad, love you dad (also known as Pawpaw)!.. and my father-in-law Allen, you are the best father-in-law and grandpa!! Plus all the other guys that have spent time teaching me about the Lord... such as Frank, even though you aren't old enough to be my dad, you definitely shaped the woman I am today. And of course, my Heavenly Father. When I think about the fact that God stretched out the heavens and yet He still cares about the little blip on this planet that is me, my mind is blown!

I have been working on the new Saving Grace website that we have, and it looks pretty cool, I think, after I looked through a kadrillion different themes. Check it out www.sgwm.com/spencer

I also wanted to rant about something... I like the show Army Wives, but one of the "Army Wives" just got divorced from her husband who is in the army, so now she lives off base and isn't technically an army wife at all. I understand divorce is a very real thing that military families have to deal with, but I really don't like it. I may stop watching the show, I don't know yet. I deal with the consequences of divorce quite regularly in my life (being married to someone whose parents are divorced) and I don't really want to have to deal with it any extra amount on a TV show.

Pray for Greece!!

I will not count...

One of the many things my mentor and hero taught me is not to count hours of sleep, that doesn't do me or anyone else any good. The last couple of nights Kati has NOT been sleeping well lately. She has been waking up every couple of hours SCREAMING. Nothing I do calms her down, so I have decided to let her cry herself back to sleep, but it is taking longer than I thought. I am exhausted. Any suggestions moms out there?

On the bright side, we are going to an Angel's game tonight!! My mom and dad got us tickets a while ago and volunteered to watch the kids so we can go on a baseball date! Yay! Hopefully they will beat the Brewers, but if not, that's ok.

I have been wanting to start posting a list of my absolute favorite mom items I cannot live without (well, I could, but I wouldn't want to). My most recent addition to this collection is a gift that I got a few weeks ago. I was talking with someone about how I wanted to get a new purse because my kids are big enough that I don't need to carry my big diaper bag on regular errands. I said that it would be awesome if I could find one that goes across the body (so I can use both hands for carrying Kati), can hold diapers, wipes, food, and all my personal stuff like my wallet and my address book, was black, and, oh yeah, my favorite brand, Fossil. Well, a few days later I was presented with a Nordstrom's bag with this in it!

Fossil's "Sutter Large Top Zip." This bag is perfect for anyone who appreciates purse space! It looks great whether I have it packed with the kids stuff, or just a few things of my own for going out on a date with Travis. There is something else I love about it, and that is that it has a zipper compartment on the back that I put my wallet in. It sits on my body so I don't have to worry about being pick-pocketed out of the front of my purse. For someone who travels a lot, this is a perfect feature. I would totally keep my passport in there. Obviously, this is a gift I will treasure for a long time!

Lost Sheep

I can't help but think about Greece with SO many churches everywhere, and yet the people have no personal relationship with God, with Jesus Christ... they truly have no resting place.

"My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have led them astray; They have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill; They have forgotten their resting place."
Jeremiah 50:6

New Blog Templates!

I really like the new templates that Blogger has available! As you can see, I picked a travel one, and if you look really closely next to Turkey, you can see a little corner of Greece. We went to Sea World with Travis' Mom, and their family, including Travis' younger brother Kyle. So that was fun. It was really cool to see Kati enjoying every show. She loves animals! I have never known a baby that will click at every animal she sees and isn't afraid of dogs, AT ALL. She is more brave with animals than Ksena is. We are still trying to figure out what city to go to. Here is a cool picture of a piece of art in Thessaloniki.

Until June...

A really cool Philmore song stuck in my head right now (Until June)... So, since I found out people actually read my blog, I promise I am going to try to post more. I gave it a face lift, thank you free blog templates, but I would like to eventually get one made that looks like the place we will be moving to next: Greece. We have really been praying about it for months, and if God keeps this door open, we are going to walk through it. I found out from a friend that some churches there do not even have translators and teach in English, so I really feel like I need to get on top of Language Study. Rosetta Stone packs are on sale for Father's Day!! I wish I had $480, because I would totally buy it! Having studied Ancient Greek definitely helps because I recognize the alphabet and the different endings and definite articles.

So yeah, I have been really getting nervous about us finally making a decision of where to go, even though God told me where we were going months ago, because it is scary! We are going to a place where there are very little missionaries, where the ground is hard, and we have no idea what to expect. We don't know the language yet, and we will have to rent an apartment, buy a car, figure out how to buy groceries all over again, and enroll Ksena in preschool. But this morning God set my mind (mostly) at ease when I was reading in Jeremiah 45 about God's promise to Baruch "But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go." The part of that verse that really speaks to me is the, "wherever you go." I felt so much that the Lord was speaking it right to me, that I don't need to be afraid about this next step, and that He will work everything out. Like Travis said in his graduation speech from the Missions Training Program, God has people in every city!

I love the Lord so much, but He loves me an infinite amount more than I love Him... that's something I don't think I'll ever be able to completely wrap my head around.

We are also working on a project inspired by one of the projects from Travis' Job class. One group did Job in shadow puppets, and it was amazing! Plus it did not have words, so it did not need translation. That got me thinking, what if we did the same thing with the Resurrection story?! We could distribute it as a conversation starter for events in ANY country without it needing to be translated first. I can think of how to do the actual crucifixion and resurrection part, but I also wanted to add some kind of story about a person hearing about Jesus for the first time. I am open to any ideas anyone has because I am totally blocked.

Last night I spent a few hours working on Kati's birthday invitations. They look pretty cute! I need to pick a date and time so we can get them printed and sent out... less than month! I can't believe a year has gone by so fast, it seems like I was just in the hospital having her.Her theme is going to be "Hippos" because she really likes Ksena's Hippo stuffed animal.

Ksena is asking me to do a french braid... uh oh! I need to practice more!

Ska Ska Ska!

On Saturday we went to Spirit West Coast for free, because of super awesome hook ups, as I mentioned earlier. On the way in someone came up to us in their car and asked if we had bought tickets yet, we said no, and they gave us a ticket!! So Travis's mom got in for free!! Woo a saved $55! It was so cool. We didn't get to go backstage because they don't allow it at Spirit West Coast, but we did get to meet the Supertones after, and they are so cool!! They were really down to earth, and their show was plain amazing. They stopped in the middle of their show and Jason, the drummer, came down and led worship, to give glory to God. It was really awesome. They are such a good example of what the focus should be on, the Lord! We happened to be sitting in the same section as a lot of the family members of the band, and their kids were going crazy. They were so cute! It was definitely a highlight for us as the band listened to the story of how we met, which I guess is pretty interesting because when one person hears it, they tell someone else to ask us how we met. Eventually I will post our story on here, but right now I'm tired, and I want to watch NCIS reruns from the marathon today, so here is a picture, which to me, is worth an infinite amount of words. God really does just bless us because He loves us! :)
